The incomparable Betty White joined ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson‘ in 1986. She walks out with a bunch of energy, and Johnny’s audience greets her with thunderous applause.
Johnny asks Betty how she has been. Betty says, “Fine. I haven’t seen you in a long time. I mean, except for last night.” She laughs with the crowd. They talk about the last job they did together.
Betty says, “Every time Johnny gets the chance to take his clothes off, he calls me, and we either do the first lady in the locker room.” Johnny says, “We did the Tarzan sketch, Adam and Eve.”
Betty tells Johnny how he would always make jokes about her and her husband. Betty said, “Oh, we would love it. We were giving a wife-swapping party, and nobody would come.”
Johnny admits, “I may have said that.” Betty says, ”We would shower together just so we could play password in the shower.” Johnny defends himself, and Betty reassures him that she loved the jokes.
She said when he started to get honest, it wasn’t funny at all. Later in the show, they talk about how beautiful Betty is, and she reminds Johnny that he hit on her once.
Betsy roasts him and says it was between one of his wives. Johnny says he meant it, but she just didn’t catch onto it because Betty thought Johnny didn’t mean it seriously. Johnny quickly introduces a clip of Betty’s show to avoid any further jokes at his expense.
